SCHEDULING

& LOGISTICS

Where are tutoring sessions located?

Tutoring sessions can either be at your home or a public space like a library or coffee shop that would be a good learning environment. Whatever works best for you!

Do you have a contract?

There is no contract! We want this to be something that conveniently works with your family so if at any time you decide this is not the best choice for your family, there are no fees or commitments to worry about!

How does scheduling work?

My hours are 9 am to 6 pm, Monday through Thursday and 9 am to 5 pm on Fridays. As long as I have availability, the schedule is totally up to what is best for your family! Do you want a one-hour session three times a week each at different times? No problem! Do you want school support for a 4-hour session just on Fridays? Sure!

what if my schedule changes and I CAN'T MAKE MY TUTORING SESSION?

If your schedule changes and you can't make it to your session, just let me know with 24 hours' notice and we'll cancel with no charge/payment for the session! No problem!

What do we need to do to prepare for the tutoring session?

Please designate a table where your child will best be able to focus and learn. If you have a space that your child could run/jump/move around in, that would be even more conducive to an engaging learning time! For school support, please preview your child’s assignments in order to know what other supplies they might need and have these ready. For extension tutoring lessons, I will bring necessary supplies!

Do parents attend the tutoring session, as well?

You do not need to participate in the tutoring session unless it helps your child and you want to. However, a parent or guardian does need to remain at the house for the duration of the tutoring session.

PRICING

What is included in the tutoring price?

The price for tutoring sessions factors in my education, teacher certification, and experience. The convenience of it being in-home tutoring incurs some travel expenses and extra time for me. And most importantly, I want to be prepared and productive with your tutoring session time which requires preparation time before your tutoring session.

what is the cost of tutoring sessions?

Tutoring sessions are a flat rate of $65/hour. School support sessions (for 1 student) are a flat rate of $50/hour.

Are you a learning fund vendor for epic charter schools?

Yes! We are a learning fund vendor of EPIC Charter Schools. For more information about the learning fund, click this link: https://epiccharterschools.org/learning-fund.

Yes, we accept check and cash payments!

Do you pay in advance or in bulk for tutoring sessions?

You won't need to pay for a set amount of sessions in advance.

Are there any registration or travel fees?

No registration or travel fees! It is a flat cost calculated by the hour. Travel expense is already factored into the hourly rate.

TUTORING SESSIONS

Who is the tutor?

It's just me! I am the owner and only tutor of Mrs. Taylor's Tutoring!

What are Mrs. Taylor’s teaching credentials?

I have a state teacher certification for Early Childhood Education certifying me to teach Pre-k- 3rd grade.

What subjects do you offer for tutoring?

I offer tutoring for students Pre-K through 5th grade for mathematics, writing, reading, science, and social studies.

How will I know how well my child is doing?

I will send a tutoring update that will give you information about your child’s progress once a month. In addition, I am happy to answer any questions and discuss your child’s progress with you throughout the weeks either by text, email or in-person during your child’s tutoring session. I understand that you have signed your child up for tutoring because you want to see your child grow and make progress. I am happy to keep you up to date with your child’s progress and answer any questions along the way!

What are the benefits of choosing Mrs. Taylor’s Tutoring?

Mrs. Taylor's Tutoring will come to you! No racing to get loaded up in the car or waiting in a lobby for an hour! Another benefit is the personalization of the lesson. If you have specific books, concepts, or ideas you want tutoring sessions to be based on, I am happy to design lessons including those! Or, I can fully determine what the lessons look like if you would like me to assess and design lessons based on what I think will be best for your child!

What can we expect a typical tutoring session to look like?

There is not a true “typical lesson" because they are all personalized for each child. My aim is for all tutoring sessions to be fun, engaging, active, and productive!

Here is an example!

Student: Alex       Grade: Kindergarten

Reading Tutoring

1st day: Assessment of phonics and phonological awareness skills.

2nd day: Active song with motions for each letter sound, using playdough to build letters while discussing words that start with that letter & discussing differences/similarities between other letters. Building the letter out of cubes. Play "find the letter" with Singing Walrus Youtube videos. Tossing a beach ball back & forth and saying the first letter we see. Using paint daubers to make letters. Tossing pom poms into the bucket with the correct letter. Rhyming picture sort. Rhyming card game played like "speed".

What curriculum do you utilize?

I use Reading A-Z and Go Math as my base curriculum and supplement with lots of other games and activities.
